Mikala made BIG moves in 2023! After being with a corporate brokerage that valued volume over their agents/clients and impersonal service over relationships, Mikala was ready to step out on her own with a local, Bellingham brokerage that DID value relationships and personal service. She was ready to step out and be her own brand, and a perfect first step is to get her own custom image library of Lifestyle Branding Photos!

We worked together before her photoshoot to pick branding colors and a location that matched who she was and celebrated her personal style and as an individual brand!

I was extra honored that she trusted me to photograph and direct her since Mikala told me she never has liked photos of herself (something I hear from most all of my clients before a photoshoot), so it was my personal mission to show her just how incredible she could look with the right, posing, wardrobe, and direction, and all I can say is … mission accomplished!

Shout out to my amazing BTS team! Tamara killed it with the glam and hair and Mads was on BTS content duty (as usual)! I absolutley love my team and they help elevate the photoshoot experience with their good vibes!!

One thing I ask you before your photoshoot if there is anything special you wear or something “weird or different” you’d like to integrate. For Mikala, it was her purple crocs!

She said she wears them ALL the time, so I insisted that she bring them along to integrate into her bad ass boss lady outfit! It totally worked, am I right?!!? Integrating this one thing tells you so much about Mikala’s personality and who she is!

I’m a sucker for a grand staircase. If we shoot at a location with a kick ass staircase, I guarantee you will get photos on it! I was OBSESSD with the one we used for Mikala’s shoot!

Mikala was excited to integrate a “celebration set” into her shoot, so I suggested big balloons! They are my favorite prop for cerebration photos!

I always recommend buying the big round balloons from Amazon and getting them filled locally the night before your photoshoot. Mikala did, and sent me a picture of her and 6 giant balloons stufed in her car. She said it looked like the Michelin Man was smooshed into her car! ha ha!

This next set, the “construction” set was so special to shoot because Mikala grew up with a dad in new construction/development real estate. Framing, insulation, and drywall are a familiar sight to her so being able to illustrate this side of her and her experience was so important.

It just so happened that the garage attic at our location was unfinished and provided us with a perfect backdrop to tell her construction story! Don’t these photos give you HGTV flipping houses show vibes!?!
